This past weekend I boarded Mogel at Falls Road Animal Hospital's boarding section, so he could get his medicine. Not only did they fail to give it to him daily, but they also misread his fucking chart and gave him a distemper shot.
When I pointed this out to them they claimed to take it off the bill, but then they had not and I got a bill today. So I had to talk to three people, the third of which called my vet to confirm that yes he had already gotten it, and finally he said they had taken it off.
I hear they are supposed to be the best hospital in the area, but don't ever use their boarding facilities. Also, none of them know how to use the computer and none of them seemed to give a crap about the animals beyond the "just doing my job" mode. You could have the best vet in the universe, but if the office staff is a bunch of incompetent tools, that's not great P.R.
Mogel *cried* the worst I've ever heard on the way home on Monday.
Conversely, use these people:

Not only are they cheaper, but they genuinely love the cats, and the cats can go outside and they pipe music into the kennels and there are no crazy constantly barking dogs.

I was in the store, buying cat food, and I overheard them trying to fix a situation where there pet pick up driver was 4 hours late to pick up a dog for boarding, (said he was lost) thus making the owner miss his flight.
That is really really bad.
4 hours is not lost...unless you count being high as lost.
they have a good pet ER, for things that people in many parts of the rest of the world can't get treatment for. but other than that, they are kinda
elitist dicks, and thier staff are apethetic.
We used to use them, when we lived in hamden, and we weren't that impressed.
for a vet, we use aardmore, on loch raven, becuase they are close, care about the animal, have pretty good prices, and you can say thier name like a pirate..
ARRRRRRRdmore.
as for boarding, if we go out of town, (like i am this weekend),
we prefer to have freinds drop by to feed and love them.
i kinda a agree with cat..
if a driver is that late...they went somewhere , got high, and then took a nap..
My vet might give me a lecture about the place if she knows about it. But no lecture is necessary. I will *never* go there again. In an emergency there's always the Catonsville emergency vet place.
Mea had to take her cat to a vet back in the wintertime because she fell from the third floor down to the first floor and falls road is the closest place to us, she went there and everyhting was ok then, but i've heard too many other stories...if you check out the rant board on craigslist, there's usually a couple of posts a week with people complaining about things that go wrong there.
Catonsville ER is wonderful but only take your pet there for true emergencies as they are a tad pricey. If you are up for a drive, Fallston Veterinary Clinic up on Bel Air Road is top notch. Wonderful people, wonderful practice, wonderful boarding. Their prices are reasonable but again, it's a drive. Expensive for exotics but there are two board certified vets there so you truly pay for their experience. Paradise in Catonsville is also good. They just renovated not too long ago...
As for boarding, besides Fallston, there is a pet spa at the Banfield off of Snowden River Parkway in Columbia. Big bucks but REALLY nice. And if you want to get a true idea of the boarding facilities of any place, drop by between 11 and 3 in the afternoon. This should be after the morning cleaning/feeding and before the evening checks. Gives you a glimpse of how often they really do check on the animals.
Sorry for posting anonymously but I am a current senior vet student and don't want to have this post bite me in the butt for speaking poorly of a fellow veterinary facility.
